As the nation commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, Frome Musical Theatre Company’s youth group ‘Spellbound’ prepare for their forthcoming production of Lionel Bart’s musical ‘BLITZ!’
The young cast aged 8-16 will perform on the Frome Memorial Theatre stage from Thursday 8th – Saturday 10th August in a nostalgic production of music, song and dance.
Produced by Karen Bishop, directed by Dora Bishop, choreographed by Eloise Kilkelly–Doyle, musically directed by David Hynds and vocally coached by Teresa Bray, the youth theatre group hope to follow in their successful footsteps after last year’s sold out show ‘Seussical’.
BLITZ! follows the story of the relationship between a Jewish family, the Blitzteins and a cockney family, the Lockes, in 1940s EastEnd London. Mrs Blitztein and Alfie Locke work at adjacent market stalls and can’t stand each other. Against the backdrop of Hitler’s bombing, their teenage children, Carol and Georgie, fall in love. Will Mrs Blitztein and Alfie be able to bury the hatchet and become friends? You’ll have to go along to find out!
Tickets are available from the Memorial Theatre box office (Monday – Saturday 9.30-1pm); call 01373 462795 or visit www.fmt. website to book online.
